Bicycle Dashboard Help

The bicycle dashboard is a simple management tool for bicycle rides. You input ride information (time, distance, etc.) and you can review the information at any time, both in tabular format and as charts. Further, you can break down your rides by route, day of week, bike (if you have more than one), etc. to gain additional insight.

Getting Started

First thing is to create an account by clicking the 'Create Account' link in the upper left. Fill in the form and you'll be logged in and taken to the user list. This is the place to return if you ever need to update your data.

Next, click the 'Personal' tab and then the 'Editor' subtab. Here you can start adding all your data. In the center near the bottom you'll see three horizontal dashes: grab them and drag upwards and you'll see three new listings of your routes, points, and bikes. Click 'New' to create new entries, starting with Points (where routes start and end) and Bikes (which you ride ;)). Next is Routes, followed by Rides as you complete them.

The neat part, of course, are the charts available by clicking the 'Charts' subtab. They're initially kind of boring, but as you start amassing more data, they get more interesting.

If you'd like to view other people's data, you can switch to the 'Multiuser' tab, and then click the 'View' button next to the person whose data you'd like to view. The upper right corner always lists the profile you're currently viewing. Once you've selected the profile you want, switch back to the 'Personal' tab and you can view all their data (in tabular or chart form).

The User Interface

The user interface is pretty simple. At the top left is a greeting, along with either 'Login' and 'Create Account' links (if you're not logged in) or a 'Logout' link (if you are). They do about what you'd expect.

At the top right is an indicator for whose profile you're currently viewing. If you're not logged in, it defaults to Barney's profile, but once you log in, it will default to your own.

The main body of the app is split into two portions via the top tabs. The first contains all your personal information, including the editor for adding information (and viewing the tabular data), and the second displays various charts of your data.

The second tab is for the multiuser functionality, which is currently limited to switching the user profile you're currently viewing. Soon to be released, however, is the ability to group users together (e.g. a riding club), and then create charts comparing the different rider's stats.
